Hardwood floors...oh my!

Due to the chaos that is our life, we haven't made it up to the house in over two weeks (gasp!), but our builder sent us a few pictures he snapped last week.

The hardwood floors on the main level should be fully installed by now:


The basement is now fully framed with the drywall ready & waiting as soon as the framing inspection clears:


Up next: cabinets! Woot!

Little by little.

Things are slowly taking shape inside...the moulding on the first & second floors is almost done.


The interior doors on both these floors are also done, but THEY ARE THE WRONG DOORS, so I didn't take any pictures of them. *Sigh*
Ah well....rewind & start again!

It's kind of hard to see, but the shakes are now on the dormers, although they still need to be painted, so they are not final yet:

The drywall in the first & second floors was hung this past week....exciting! It's starting to look like a real house now!

Cement poured.

They poured the cement in the basement & garage this past week...





All inspections were signed off on as well, so this next week will bring the start of: elevator installation, insulation, drywall, stone work, & siding, which has already started!

It's starting to feel real now.

In Between.

This has been an "in between" week for the house progress...Right now, we're in between the electrical inspection, the heating inspection, the framing inspection...yawn...boring!...but all necessary. That should all be done by Wednesday, so they can then start on the insulation, siding, stone, basement framing...stuff that's fun to watch! Until then...

There is still progress being made. They have installed the heating pipes for the garage & basement floors:

The basement steps are in now, so I was able to go down & check it out. They've been busy working on heating & electrical this past week...They plan to wire for the elevator on Monday & pour cement on Wednesday. Movin' right along!

Windows in!

The windows are all in...Just in time for the deep freeze that we know is looming.

Porter got to see his new room today!

The roof...the roof...the roof is...ON!!!

They shingled the roof this week!

Oh...and in case you're interested...they took away Porter's 'usual' bathroom stop, so today we had to find another one. Good thing there is a lot of construction going on in our neighborhood! We are now using Jimmy's Johnnys. Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

A glimpse inside...

We got to go "inside" our new home today to discuss some framing options with our builder. It was so cool to actually start to visualize the layout. To quote Blair: "Okay, now even I'm excited!"

And this I just had to take a picture of. In order to get Blair into the house, they had to lift him on this big "thing" they move roof plywood with. There are probably 112 good jokes I could insert here, but I'll refrain...

All the plywood has been added to the roof & it's ready for shingles.

...although there should be double-hung windows on each side, so......yeah. We're looking into it. Stay tuned.

Dry Weather = Progress!

We lucked out with good, dry weather this week, so the framers got a lot more done. Check it out:


The roof trusses are almost done & our builder says they hope to start the roof this next week!

They started framing the second level this week...Awesome!

Frame it up.

The framing on the main level is near completion! Or at least it looks that way to us...We really have no idea.

There is a pile of wood in the way, but behind that is where the front door will be!

Oh, this? What's this, you ask? Well, every single time we drive out to look at the house, we get there & Porter has to go to the bathroom. Every. Single. Time. And yes, every single time we have to use this port-a-potty. Every. Single. Time. I mean, I know we are very lucky it is there because who knows what Plan B would be, but...seriously?
